Frieda has been teaching introductory and intermediate German courses since 2017 and holds a Teaching Certificate for German as a Foreign Language from the Goethe-Institut. In addition to group courses, she offers personalized private lessons for adults.
As an experienced instructor, Frieda is committed to modern, interactive online learning that keeps students engaged. She continuously refines her teaching methods to integrate up-to-date materials, digital tools, and real-world content that align with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) and complement course books. Her approach emphasizes active speaking, effective learning strategies, and a strong cultural connection to Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.
Beyond teaching, Frieda is passionate about building and fostering a German-speaking community where learners can connect, practice, and grow together. Through Seattle Speaks German, she creates engaging learning spaces, including Monthly Feierabend and immersive activities, to support learners on their language journey.
Originally from northern Germany, Frieda has lived in the United States since 2012, with several interim stays across Europe and the U.S. before making Seattle her home. In 2019, she founded Seattle Speaks German to create a supportive and engaging learning environment for German language enthusiasts.
"I love introducing new learners to the German language," Frieda shares. "Starting a new language journey brings a spectrum of emotions—from challenges to triumphs. My goal is to guide and encourage students every step of the way while making learning engaging, relevant, and enjoyable."
