"The course definitely exceeded my expectations! I had tried both Goethe and Duolingo previously, and neither connected with the learning nor made nearly the progress that I did in the Seattle Speaks German, Beginner Level 1 course. My significant other, who is German, also commented that I was making great progress, in a short time, on pronunciation, vocabulary, and asking/answering basic questions. I found the in-class exercises to be very helpful, and the homework ensured that the learning continued beyond the classroom. The additional resources were also helpful; I have bookmarked many of them to use as a reference! As with any learning, the more effort you put in, the better the results, and Frau Dean provides an excellent foundation and structure for learning, in and out of the classroom, as well as in the group setting and independently between class sessions. I actually feel confident now that when I go back to Germany in a couple of months, I will be able to say a few things about myself and ask some basic questions! I highly recommend this course for anyone who is looking to learn the language in a structured, non-intensive and very supported manner. I look forward to starting the Beginner Level 2 course."
